Good news. South African track champion Wayde van Niekerk and wife Chesney are expecting their first child.
The 400m world record holder made the announcement on Instagram on Monday, accompanied by a graphic illustration by Cape Town design studio, Yay Abe.
Wayde posted: “Crazy excited to announce we are having a baby.
“Blessings keep coming our way. Stay tuned for the gender soon.”
The happy news comes as the Olympic gold medallist prepares to defend his title at the Tokyo Olympics next month.
The post received plenty of congratulatory messages from his 347 000 followers including comments from Rachel Kolisi, Sue Duminy and Bryan Habana.
The 28-year-old from Kraaifontein and wife Chesney, 29, tied the knot in October 2017 after three years of dating.
And the clan keeps growing.
Wayde’s famous cousin Cheslin Kolbe became a father for the second time in November last year.
The Springbok rugby star and his wife Layla gave birth to their second daughter in Toulouse, France, where he plays his club rugby.
Cheslin, 27, who arrived in South Africa this week to feature in the home Test series against the British & Irish Lions, is also dad to Kylah, who turns three this month.
