Scammers are apparently out to profit from the late rapper DMX’s funeral.
His family has now warned mense not to donate cash to people claiming to be helping pay for his funeral.
Earl Simmons, aka DMX, died on Friday of a heart attack in New York. He was 50.
The Party Up hitmaker’s family told TMZ they're not raising money and said any campaigns to this effect are totally fake.
The family also said they had no plans to sell any DMX merchandise and anyone doing so don’t have any authorisation from them.
DMX’s 1998 debut album It’s Dark and Hell is Hot was the first of five in a row to top the US Billboard 200 chart.
In a 2019 GQ magazine profile, DMX said he studied the Bible and prayed before and after every show.
He said at the time: “Performing in front of people is beyond a high. It’s beyond a high that any drug could duplicate.”
He had 15 children from nine women. He was married to his childhood sweetheart Tashera Simmons for 11 years. They had children Xavier, Tacoma, Sean and Praise Mary Ella together.
