Even though lockdown levels were eased in August, it seems local artists are enjoying the online show trend.
Even Uncle Cliffy is showing off with his new show, Kombuis Stories.
The popular ou ballie, played by comedian Carl Weber, is famous for his old school stories dating back to his younger days growing up on the Cape Flats.
Whether all of them are true is ‘n saak van gebed.
Carl says mense are able to relate as “everyone mos have that one uncle”.
“The heart of every home is the kitchen. It’s where the best stories are told, the best food is made and best memories are too,” says Carl.
“Uncle Cliffy will be sharing his outlandish stories.
“It’s a throwback to all of our wonder years as kids and a reminder of how much family means, we all have that uncle who is just too much, but still lekker.
“My uncle is Cliffy Adonis en hy praat soos sy bek staan en klaar.”
For the first time Uncle Cliffy invites mense into his home, a cosy house on the corner of 5th Avenue and Military Road in Lotus River, where he lives with his son Donny and his wife Nicky.
Nicky is short for Outeniqua, adds Carl.
Mense will also get to meet Aunty Doreen and Cliffie’s best friend, Basil.
Carl says: “This show takes you on a journey, from growing up in Lotus River to how he met his wife and proposed, with some top class marital tips and how to keep your marriage as hot as deep heat on a koue boud.”
The show will stream on 18 September at 8pm and tickets are R50 at Quicket.
