Social media entertainer Ikraam van Witt celebrated his 42nd birthday on Thursday by throwing a bash for 300 children in his hometown, Bonteheuwel.
The video vlogger IamIkie shares his daily experiences and lagbol stories with his 56 000 Facebook followers.
“I discuss real life events, places and people on the Cape Flats,” he says.
“I aim to entertain people, especially during this time of the current pandemic, everyone needs a little laughter and a reality check now and then,” says Ikie.
Ikraam, who has one daughter and one grandchild, decorated Vlamboom Road with balloons and a jumping castle with lekker treats and entertainment for the kids.
The comedian and his friends got together to prepare a hearty meal, party packets and other treats for the kids.
“I had a street party with the kids in the community. I sent out an invitation to our community WhatsApp group where I invited the kids to come enjoy my birthday with me,” he says.
“They were really grateful for the treats and couldn’t stop smiling.
“The sad part was when we had to deflate the jumping castle and that’s when they realised it was over.
“I promised them we would do this again next year.”
The kids enjoyed a plate of akni, suckers, fruit juice, party packets, cupcakes and more.
Ikie also had prizes a dancing and singing competition.
The kids all went home with a party packet and an extra cup cake.
“It warms my heart that I could spend my birthday with these deserving children,” says Ikie.
“The day’s plans nearly looked impossible but it all came together on Wednesday.
“I am grateful for my friends and family who supported the event and helped me feed these kids as my birthday wish.”
