Manenberg’s Zia Fielies secured her spot in the Top 17 on Idols Season 15. And the 19-year-old did it in style with high praise from Idols judge Randall Abrahams nogal.
Meanwhile, the judges had some kopkrap to do when they split the cream of the crop from those who were sent home of the top 32 contestants on Sunday night.
The final judgement was delivered, and instead of the usual 16 people going home, it was 15.
The judges sukkeled to separate Kwazulu-Natal twin sisters, Virginia and Viggy. This led to an unprecedented decision to keep the twins, giving us a Top 17 for Idols Season 15.
Four talents in the 17 are from Cape Town and will need your votes for the live rounds starting this Sunday.
Since the auditions, Zia stood out for the judges, and Randall said, “Each of us scores the performers individually and we add up those scores. Obviously, the people with the highest marks go through. You scored full marks. Now, do you believe that you are talented?”
The other Capey contestants are Craig Jordaan, 21, from Elsies River, Louise Nicolls, 29, from Strandfontein and 21-year-old Xola Toto of Delft.
Xola, whose favourite icons are Lira and Jill Scott, and who made it to the top 31 last year, says: “Now I feel so overwhelmed, mixed emotions, at the same time I am nervous, the competition is tough. The contestants are so talented, but I believe that I also have something special to bring to South Africa.”
Idols SA Season 15 is on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161 on Sundays at 5pm.
