Local entertainers rallied around a matric boy from Alexander Sinton High School who pleaded for a “matric ball miracle”.
Kyle Grant, 18, from Mitchells Plain wrote a letter “on a hope and a prayer” to his favourite celebs, asking for assistance with his “dream matric ball”, which he could not afford.
SAMA-nominated singer and songwriter Jarrad Ricketts, social media sensation Chad Chitter aka DJ Skouers, and South Africa’s top drag queen Manila Von Teez took his appeal for help to heart and waved some wands to make the young man’s dream come true.

His make-up and styling was done by Manila, he received a manicure by Natasha Wessels’ “Bella Paige” beauty bar, while his tafel and transport to the ball was sponsored by Mattfin & LRI Productions.
All of this was co-ordinated by Jarrad and Chad.
Kyle, who is a professional dancer, says he always wanted to be different, and says his extroverted personality gave him the courage to approach his idols.
“I bravely sent an email to Skouers and Jarrad and they responded with assistance in two days,” he says.
And it took a whole two weeks for it all to come together before the big night last Friday.
Chad says this was an opportunity he just couldn’t refuse: “I’m going to use my platform to help others, seeing someone else’s smile brings me joy.”
Jarrad said he felt good to be part of Kyle’s milestone: “So many of our youth get caught up in substance abuse and gangsterism and never get to complete their schooling.
“This was a moment we could all be proud of, to see our youth invest in themselves, getting the necessary education to become the best versions of themselves.”
Kyle was dressed in a pink sequinned body-fitted top, black pants, slip-on shoes, a choker and even coloured his hair pink.

“I went for dusty pink hair because it complemented both my outfit and personality, it explained my fierce and busy attitude towards life,” he says.

“Being escorted by Skouers, Jarrad and Manila was the best!” the excited teen says.
