If you smaak having royals for neighbours, brace yourselves.
The British newspaper, The Sunday Times, reports that Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, may move to Africa after the birth of their first child this month, writes CNN .
The potential temporary relocation - of between two and three years - to Africa would expand the couple’s international function and was devised by the royal family courtiers, writes the paper.
Africa is one potential destination.
The Sunday Times writes the proposed plan, devised by David Manning, former British ambassador to the US and Prince Harry’s special adviser on international affairs, is aimed at the couple taking on a more international position that could build on their work for the Commonwealth.
However, says the report, a decision is not expected until 2020, thereby giving them the opportunity to start raising their child at their Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told CNN“future plans for the Duke and Duchess are speculative”, adding that “no decisions” on their future roles have been made.
While there is no certainty of which African countries the royal pair would decide on, they have 19 Commonwealth countries in Africa to consider, including South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda and Ghana.
The Duchess of Sussex, who has been appointed Vice President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, is due to give birth to the couple’s first child.
Harry and Meghan have, meanwhile, opted to remain mum about details of the birth.
And while the expected date of delivery is unknown, the baby is believed to be due soon as the pregnancy was announced in October.
