A 21-year-old man from Mitchells Plain is set to represent the country at an international soccer tournament happening in Malaysia in December.
Justin Petersen from Eastridge hopes to play at the GreenSmile Under-21 Tournament and join about 30 teammates from 4 - 14 December in Kuala Lumpur.
As an attacking left wing or central midfielder, his physical strength needs to be at its peak and Justin, according to his mother, spends all his time perfecting his game.
Janine, 39, says she is proud of her son, but says the family cannot afford to pay the R40 000 required for him to go on the trip.
Half of the money is for his flights and accommodation, the balance is for travelling, meals and daily living expenses.
The mom says: “We are very proud of Justin and his commitment to his sport. He has played since he was seven and joined his first club when he was nine.

“He has worked fiercely to be one of the most promising players and international exposure will help him achieve his goals in life.
“I know he will come back a winner.”
Meanwhile Justin says he is ready to fly.
“It means a different level of soccer for me and will mean so much to go,” he says.
“I’m representing my club, my teammates, my community and, mostly, South Africa.
“I am grateful to my parents and everyone who has and will help me get there.”
