Idols SA Season 15 is off to a lekkerstart with 30 Cape Town contestants already having bagged the coveted Gold Ticket.
DJ Fresh was the guest judge alongside Unathi, Somizi and Randall at the Cape Town Judges Audition last week.
Lance Florence, 27, from Darling was one of the first to impress the judges with his breathtaking performance of Creep by Radiohead.
Lance says he spent most of his life growing up in Lavender Hill but moved to Darling five years ago to get away from crime.
“I’m originally from Lavender Hill, my mom decided it was best we move out of the area because of the crime happening there,” he says.
“The song I chose for the audition reflects a lot of who I am. It’s the story of my life, nobody really accepts me for who I am and I’m always seen as the weirdo.

“The song speaks about the desire to be socially accepted.”
Lance was dressed in a smart suit and his face painted with special effects make-up to add to his “weird character”.
Lance entered Idols in 2009 but didn’t make it past the Cattle Call Audition.
Theatre auditions start next week in Johannesburg and other guest judges who will put in an appearance include Dr Rebeccah Malope at the Pretoria audition, Vusi Nova at the Durban Audition and Lady Zamar in Johannesburg.
Idols SA airs on M-Net, channel 101 on DStv, at 5 pm.
