Cape Flats musician Deen Louw, aka D’Louw, is appealing for help to sustain his feeding scheme.
The 57-year-old Lentegeur dad and grandpa provides kids with a warm meal twice a week.
“It’s only twice a week, what about every other day of the week? I wish I could do more,” says Deen.
He scouts out various areas before he rocks up with his car and opens his boot to serve the food to the needy.
He funds the scheme by hosting weekly shows in Mitchells Plain, but says it is not enough as the need is very big.
“I try to do as many shows as I can to get enough money to buy food for the kids, I spend about R4500 per month on food for the feeding scheme.

“I also am blessed to receive meat and other ingredients from local businesses.”
Deen says his bigger vision is to open an emergency overnight shelter in Mitchells Plain.
Deen is well-known and has released nine albums over 30 years in the industry.
One of his famous tracks is Can’t Get You Off My Mind featuring Jimmy Dludlu.

“I’m working on my new release for Valentine’s Day next year,” he adds.
Deen’s music career started while he was working at Sea Safmarine in the ’80s.
“An American bought me a guitar and said I’m a singer and not a sailor.”
He says there’s also a need for a shelter in his community: “We have so many who roam the streets with no place to sleep safely at night, and there are kids abandoned by their parents.”
