Craig Lucas is gearing up to set sail for justice.
The 26-year-old Elsies River singer and songwriter has been appointed as a brand ambassador for The Justice Desk, and says he admired their work with vulnerable girls.
“I heard about the Justice Desk through them contacting my mom, and they are not a charity organisation as much as they are a human rights organisation,” he says.
“They go into underprivileged communities and teach girls about human rights.
“They’ve done incredible things, they’ve gone to a school where human trafficking was a really bad problem.
“They taught the kids how to prevent it and they actually stopped two girls from being taken within a year.
“The school kids themselves did that and that’s what they do - they empower communities.”
“A lot of people come to me and ask me for assistance with charity organisations and I do it, but I always feel like after I’ve done something that it’s just helping for a moment instead of making a long-term impact,” he adds.
He will be taking part in the Great Optimist Race, which is held at the Cape Town International Boat Show on Saturday.
GEARING UP: Craig preparing for the Boat Show
The race involves 39 other celebrities, corporates, charities and medical survivors navigating the V&A Waterfront Harbour waters.
The participants will be competing to raise the most money for their chosen charity and the Little Optimist Trust.

The Boat Show runs from 18-20 October.
