If you think you’ve missed out on a crucial step in discovering South Africa’s next big “Voice”, moenie worry nie.
Instead of moving on to The Battle rounds from The Blind Auditions, as was the case in the first two seasons The Voice SA, Season 3 plunged straight into The KnockOuts, with coach Lira’s team members igniting the stage in the hope of staying in the competition.
From starting off with 13 talents in this round, Lira was forced to trim her team to only six.
Cape Town dominated with four talents out of the six to make it to the next round.
At the end of each performance, the Afro-soul star had to allocate the act a spot in either the “Safe Zone” or “Danger Zone”
The Safe Zone will book the talents a spot in The Battles section for the next round.

A talent who lands in the Danger Zone either gets saved by a coach who “steals” the talent or leaves the competition.
Our Kaapse contenders for Team Lira who made it through are Petro de Villiers, 32, from Cape Town, Krista Jonas, 29, from Strandfontein and the PJ Twins, 26, from Bonteheuwel.
Mo George, 21, from Bo-Kaap landed in the Danger Zone but was saved by coach Francois van Coke. Mo chose Adam Lambert’s What Do You Want From Me? to prove that he can sing more than just ballads, but didn’t convince Lira.
“A million thoughts crossed my mind when I landed in Danger Zone,” says Mo.

“I was upset that Lira put me there, but I’m thankful for the save by #TeamVanCoke.”
Next Krista belted out Katy Perry’s Rise.
“I loved that, I thought it was intense and powerful,” said Francois and Lira agreed, placing her in the Safe Zone.
Krista says she sang straight from the heart: “I’m all about motivating people through song, but this time the lyrics spoke directly to me. I meant each and every word I sang. The song fully represents where I am at in my life right now.”
The PJ Twins, aka Peter and John Talmarkes, showed off their operatic skills with the Mario Frangoulis hit Caruso.
“We are comfortable with opera, so it wasn’t too much of a challenge,” they said.
“We’re in a huge competition and pressure to do well and make Lira proud was so overwhelming.
“We always work well together and there was no doubt that once we hit the stage, we had each others’ backs.”
