He started making music a decade ago as a teenager and now Jarrad Ricketts’ hard work is paying off and he is exploding all over the airwaves.
On Wednesday, he won the Rising Star In Music award at the Cape Town Experience Awards.
“And the blessings continue, what an honour to be recognized and celebrated in this capacity. An amazing start to the year,” he posted on Instagram.
He says he’s been inundated with gigs in recent years and, this year, finally released his first full album.
“I’m still in awe of the amazing attention I’ve been receiving with my music,” the humble singer says.

“I’m getting to perform on big stages and my music is topping the charts on radio.
“It’s been a long journey, but I’ve finally reached my destination.”
Jarrad says seeing his debut album in music stores across Cape Town, is “still a shocker”.
Some of his songs that’ve been hitting the charts include Take Me To Your Heart, Thinking Bout and New Life have all reached the number one spot and he has just released his latest single, Paradise.
On Tuesday he posted a message of appreciation to fans for buying is album, called Break The Rules.
“When I walk into Musica in Cavendish Square and I see my album “Break The Rules” next to the 2019 Grammy Nominees CD in the “Charting albums” category! I RECEIVE IT LORD! (sic)”
Jarrad, who also won the ESP Young Legends competition, will be performing at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival in March.
