The Duchess of Sussex has completed her first solo engagement as a member of the royal family.
The former ' Suits' actress was without husband Prince Harry as she attended the launch of the Oceania exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts London on Tuesday (September, 25, 2018).
The 37-year-old royal - who was known as Meghan Markle before marrying The Duke of Sussex in May - viewed art from the Oceania region, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia, and New Guinea, Easter Island, Hawaii and New Zealand.
Meghan - who wowed in a black Givenchy dress - then spoke with several artists before leaving with flowers from the children of one of the exhibition's organisers.
A tweet on Kensington Palace's Twitter read: "Before departing @royalacademy, The Duchess received a posy from Rima and Kotai, whose father was involved in the exhibition. #RAOceania (sic)"
Meghan, who will tour Australia and New Zealand with Harry, 34, from October 16, also got to learn a Maori nose-rubbing greeting and was introduced to New Zealand’s high commissioner Sir Jerry Mateparae an his wife.
New Zealand artist Lisa Reihani told PEOPLE.com that Meghan said: “It’s so special. It’s spectacular.
“It’s a great introduction to the sights and sounds of that part of the world."
The Duchess was also treated to a performance by a Maori group during her visit. Meghan's solo visit to the exhibition came exactly a year after she and Harry made their first official public outing as a couple at the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada.
Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry won't be returning from their trip until the beginning of November - meaning they will miss Harry's father Prince Charles' 70th birthday festivities.
In celebration of the milestone, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is reportedly arranging a special concert and dinner at Buckingham Palace on October 25 - although his actual birthday isn't until November 14.
The couple's tour will include visits to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and the Kingdom of Tonga, and the couple will be in Tonga during the celebration.
An insider previously explained: "They wanted to hit the ground running after their marriage to focus on their charitable interests and Meghan is really looking forward to representing Her Majesty on her first major Commonwealth tour."
