Legendary Chinese actor Chow Yun-fat is giving his money away to charity.
The star of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is reportedly worth US $714 million (R10 billion), but he chooses to live a simple lifestyle.
Speaking to the Hong Kong movie site Jayne Stars, 63-year-old Chow admitted he only spends about R1450 a month on himself.
He saves money by doing very normal things, like taking public transport and shopping at discount stores.
“I don’t wear clothes for other people,” he said. “As long as I think it’s comfortable, then it’s good enough for me.”
He also used a first-generation Nokia phone for over 17 years and only upgraded two years ago because his Nokia stopped working.

Chow previously said in 2013 that his plan is to donate his money to various charities when he dies.
“The money’s not mine,” he said. “I’m only keeping it safe for the time being.”
Chow has been married to his wife, Jasmine Tan, since 1986, and they do not have kids.
At the end of the day, “my dream is to be a happy and normal person,” Chow said.
