An Atlantis woman is ready for her first ever art exhibition this weekend in Pretoria.
The Mosaic Association of South Africa is hosting its first ever expo since its establishment in 2009.
Allison Adams, 38, is excited to show the world her work after she took a leap of faith and left winemaking for a life of art.
She studied Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch and became a winemaker, but in 2013, she left the wine industry to adopt the life of a full-time artist.
“It has not been easy but it has also been the most rewarding journey. Many feel that I’m wasting away given my talents, qualifications, but I’m at peace knowing that I’m still very much applying everything I know on a daily basis,” she explains.

Allison is a self-taught mosaic artist and says it took hours of practice and sacrifice, blisters and sore hands from working with the materials.
“It’s a emotional and spiritual journey for me. My art is my story. Raw, untainted, and unfiltered.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of this event. This means a lot to me because I get to step out and show my work for the very first time.
Her motivation to others: “Never give up, create, create, create.”
