The Cornerstone Institute Bursary Competition is your opportunity to empower and educate yourself to “Be the Change”.
Be the Change is an initiative that provides fully-funded higher education opportunities to people who want to study in order to gain knowledge and skills that they can use to uplift their communities.
This partnership between Cornerstone Institute, Community Chest and Daily Voice will see 16 people win full bursaries to study at Cornerstone Institute in 2020.
The qualifications on offer are: 10 short courses, two Higher Certificates in Community Development; two BA Undergraduate degrees in Community Development; and two BA Honours in Community Development.
The bursaries will be fully funded by Community Chest and Cornerstone Institute.

and fill out the Be The Change application form, which will include a motivational essay.
- In the essay, applicants will need to tell us about themselves, how a social issue has impacted their life and how studying towards a qualification at Cornerstone Institute can help them and their community.
- In the essay, applicants must reference articles published in the Daily Voice that illustrate the social issue discussed.
- Application forms can also be collected at the Daily Voice’s offices (Newspaper House, 122 St. George’s Mall, Cape Town, Community Chest and Cornerstone Institute offices (2 Roggebaai Square, Foreshore, Cape Town).
- The competition will run from 7 August to 29 November 2019.
The winners will be announced in December 2019 after careful consideration by an adjudication panel consisting of representatives from Cornerstone Institute, Community Chest and Daily Voice.
