South Africa’s Raven Klaasen and New Zealand partner Michael Venus lost in the first round of the men’s doubles in the French Open at Roland Garros on Tuesday.
The sixth seeded pair of Klaasen and Venus lost to unseeded duo Marius Copil (Belgium) and Rohan Bopanna (India) in straight sets 6-3 7-6(4).
Klaasen, whose best finish in the clay court Grand Slam was in the third round last year, leaves Lloyd Harris in the singles event as the only South African remaining in the tournament.
