Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reckons his manne were let off the hook as they booked a third-round FA Cup replay with Wolves after Saturday’s goalless draw.
The replay will take place in midweek before United travel to play Liverpool on January 19.
In a game of few clear-cut chances, United had to wait until second-half substitute Marcus Rashford hit the crossbar in the 70th minute seconds after coming on.
And they were let off the hook when Matt Doherty headed beyond Sergio Romero seven minutes later, only for the goal to be chalked off after Doherty’s downward effort hit his hand en route.
Solskjaer said of the match: “Wolves are a good team, a strong team, very physical. I thought we played well in the first half and dominated possession.
“But then they took over in the second half which made it an even tougher game.
“Of course, we got off the hook when he [Matt Doherty] mistimed his header and it hit his arm. But it was an even game and I think a draw is a fair result.”

Questioned over whether he would be active in the January transfer window to strengthen the depth at the club after a toothless display by a rotated side, Solskjaer touched on Wolves striker Raul Jimenez and wantaway Paul Pogba.
Of £50m-rated Mexican Jimenez, he says: “Another good player we have been linked with.
“He did really well today. I can’t comment on speculation.”
