Manchester United are kwaad at their recent form and will channel that into improved performances, starting against Atalanta tonight.
United have won just once in their previous five games ahead of the 9pm Champions League Group F clash and need to find some joy with Liverpool coming to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing calls for his head on social media after a 4-2 hammering by Leicester at the weekend, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba have made their unhappy feelings known.
And the boss says of his job situation: “We’ve progressed over the years. Sixth in half season, third, second. You can see the progress. We have signed players which have raised expectations but we are in the same boat as other top teams.
“Pressure is on me of course but we have been through this before. I am in dialogue with the club all the time, it is an open and honest discussion.”
He adds: “It is not a jovial happy camp, they are focused and determined. Conceding four goals is a big eye-opener for us.”
Fit-again Marcus Rashford flanked the coach at Tuesday’s media briefing and says United’s ambitions of winning a first trophy in three years under Solskjaer this season has not changed.
Having scored in his first game back this term against Leicester, the England star says: “Everyone wants to win trophies. We’ve been close but we need to find the difference.
“The period we are in now, it is the next game which counts.”
