Mamelodi Sundowns and Baroka FC meet in a Telkom Knockout quarterfinal clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon, in what appears to be a 'David vs Goliath' style encounter.
Baroka beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in the previous round of the cup competition but that was their only win in their past 10 matches.
In fact, their only other previous win this season was in the second round of Absa Premiership matches on August 8, when they beat Cape Town City 2-1.
League champions Sundowns, on the other hand, are riding off the back of an 8-match unbeaten run.
The good news for Baroka is that the Sundowns strikers seem to be in a goal-shy mood and it's been 6 matches since they scored more than one goal in a game.
In fact, the last time was in a 3-all draw with Amazulu in a league match on September 16.
Even in their first round cup match against Bloemfontein Celtic, Sundowns were less than convincing in their 1-0 triumph.
However, it is a sign of a quality side when they can win even if not in top form and the Baroka defence is expected to be in for a tough 90 minutes or more on Saturday.
Last season, Sundowns went out of the cup in the first round, via a 1-0 loss to Chippa United, while Baroka were eliminated in the quarterfinals in the past two seasons and will be hoping for a 'third time lucky' outcome.
From a league perspective, Baroka has conceded 11 goals in as many games while scoring just 5, and few would bet on the ball not going into the Limpopo team's net on one or more occasions on Saturday.
Sundowns, with attacking players like Jeremy Brockie, Gaston Sirino (scorer of the winner against Celtic), Lebogang Maboe and Toni Silva, to name a few, should cause a few headaches for Wedson Nyrienda's charges.
Then again this is cup football and stranger results have happened.
