Benni McCarthy is backing Mamelodi Sundowns to lift the PSL title in this weekend’s season finale.
Sundowns lead the league by two points from rivals Orlando Pirates, with the top two teams on 56 and 54 points respectively.
And after preventing Bucs from a crucial victory last Saturday with a 2-2 draw at Athlone Stadium, Benni reckons the Brazilians have the upperhand now.
The Bafana Bafana legend says: “I have to again sincerely apologise to Orlando Pirates that they [weren’t going to] become champions on my watch.
“I back Sundowns. Their position is far better and in this situation, Pitso Mosimane knows what he has to do.”
However, Pitso is not as confident of PSL glory with the PSL deciding to appeal against a monetary fine on his team for fielding a suspended Wayne Arendse and instead want three points docked as punishment.
With the case still to be resolved, Downs can end top of the log this weekend by beating Free State Stars and we will still be no closer to knowing the champions are.

Pitso says: “This season is not the one that I am going to run around with the trophy and get excited about if we win because I don’t understand what is happening.
“Really what is happening?
“It is unbelievable that there is one round of matches left in the season and we are still talking about this thing.
“I have the last the game to prepare for.”
Benni and his manne still have something to play for when they go to Polokwane for their final game.
City can finish third and book a place in the Caf Confederations Cup if they win by three goals and Wits lose to Golden Arrows.
Another loose end that needs tying up is the relegation battle, with the bottom five clubs in the PSL all still in danger of the dreaded drop.
Eric Tinkler’s Maritzburg start the weekend in the automatic relegation spot. They take on Baroka five places above them and can overtake them with a victory.
