Cape Town City have denied reports that they are planning to add the brother of former France and Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.
Steeven Ribery, who last played as a right winger for Swedish second-tier side Syrianska FC, has been linked to the Citizens in widespread reports.
But City media officer Julian Bailey tells the Daily Voice that there is no truth to the story.
The Capetonians would have to sell one of their five foreign
players to make room for the Frenchman.
And City are not considering that, having goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh, defenders Kouassi Kouadja and Edmilson Dove and midfield duo Roland Putsche and Chris David on their books already.
Assistant coach Vasili Manousakis also revealed that City were contemplating making a move for Tanzanian defender Abdi Banda, who was released from Baroka FC last month.
But again the implications for their overseas players would have made that too tricky for the club even as they search for defensive back-up.
City have until the end of August to finalise their transfer business before the close of the PSL
window.
The Citizens kick off their PSL campaign away to Baroka FC this
Saturday.
