Tottenham skipper says it’s now or never to win silverware with the club Tottenham talisman Harry Kane says it’s high time he started winning trophies as he hits his prime.
The Spurs goal machine is one of the deadliest strikers in the game and has netted two Premier League Golden Boots with his 143 league strikes.
Despite his exploits in front of goal, he has still not won a trophy with his club – who last added to their honours cabinet in 2008 when they won the League Cup.
At the age of 27 – entering his “best years” – Kane is desperate to lift some silverware after coming close in the 2019 Champions League final and losing the 2015 League Cup decider to Chelsea.
Under the guidance of coach Jose Mourinho, Spurs will have to match their skipper’s ambitions as they kick off the Premier League season on Sunday when Carlo Ancelotti’s big-spending Everton travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane says: “I’m at the height of my powers, as people like to say. I’m 27 and feeling good, feeling fresh.
“So I’m excited. It’s obviously down to what I do on the pitch and what we do as a team. But for me to take that next step as a player and try to progress as a player is to win those trophies.
“Obviously it’s great scoring goals and winning Golden Boots but, as I’ve said before, there would be no better feeling than lifting a trophy with my teammates.
“That’s the ultimate goal. That’s what I’ll try to do and hopefully this year can be a big year.”
Trying to kill his vibe on the first day of the new season is Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton who are hoping to crack the top six this year, after signing James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
