Rory Kleinveldt took 5/22 to help the Cape Cobras to a seven-wicket One-Day Cup win over the Knights at Newlands on Thursday.
The 36-year-old former Proteas star was in unplayable form as the Knights crumbled to 9/3 after deciding to bat first.
Kleinveldt was responsible for two of those early wickets, with Proteas Test bowler Vernon Philander taking the other.
The visitors staged a mini-fightback and got to 186 all out in the end, with Rudi Second (49) and Grant Mokoena (44) adding some respectability to their scorecard.
The Cobras never really looked in trouble chasing down the score, with Zubayr Hamza (65*) and Kyle Verreynne (44*) steering the side home with seven wickets and 35 balls still in the bank.
The victory lifted the Cobras to third on the One Day Cup log and with one match to play, they are almost certain of a spot in the semis.
Kleinveldt and his teammates will be looking to finish the job and make sure of their playoff spot when they face the fourth-placed Warriors at St George’s Park Saturday (1.30pm).
