Stormers coach Robbie Fleck and his team will be feeling blue on this Monday after they lost the opening match of their Super Rugby tour of Australasia.
After leading 28-27 in a seesaw battle against a weakened Hurricanes team at the Westpac Stadium on Saturday, Fleck could only watch in horror as the Canes flyhalf Beauden Barrett scored a late try to sink his team 34-28.
But the Stormers will know that they only have themselves to blame and with the Blues coming up this weekend, Fleck also knows they will have to get over their hartseer pretty quickly.
He says: “We’re just frustrated that was the one match we wanted really badly [to win] and we let ourselves down in the second half.
“It was a game we probably should have won.”
Captain Siya Kolisi adds: “We missed a lot of tackles and when we had our opportunities we didn’t take them.
“We weren’t as physical as we wanted to be”
Waiting for them in Auckland on Saturday is a Blues team that will be high on confidence after they got the better of the Highlanders this past weekend.
After their match against the Blues, the Stormers travel to Australia where they will cross swords with the Reds and the Rebels before returning home.
