Some time ago Bobby Nitro picked up on the efforts of an organisation called SPIN (Supporting People in Need) and their drive to bring help and petrolkop entertainment to the community.
Here’s an update on the push to get that dedicated Spin pitch. Bobby spoke to SPIN chairman Jonathan Schaffers after a recent meeting with Mayor Dan Plato, Ward councillor Elton Jansen and members of the executive committee.
Jonathan, better known as Jonny 2j, says: “The City seems to have taken our cause to heart and have earmarked a piece of land along Spine Road in Mitchells Plain. The proposal is with City planners.”
In support there have been comments from a Lentegeur top cop saying when the area has SPIN meets, the crime figures tend to drop considerably. This follows a couple of ‘illegal’ meetings out at The Hills in Lentegeur, for which SPIN was reprimanded by the City.
Jonny says: “We would like to sincerely thank the City and Ward councillor Elton Jansen for their willingness to partner with us in making this pitch a reality.”
A recent mail from the Mayco committee involved says that the Lentegeur Hills can be used for Spinning in the meanwhile.
