So ja, here we go again, the festive season is upon us and this year it looks to be in full swing, well almost. Covid restrictions do put a damper on things, but there has been on definite upside to these restrictions.
Simple fact is that less people die on the road when you take alcohol out of the picture. Now, we’re not saying ban booze for season, but we are saying that we should take good note of this and change our behaviour accordingly.
The behaviour in question here is drinking and driving. Over 40 percent of drivers killed on Western Cape roads test positive for blood alcohol. Sixty one of pedestrian fatalities test positive for alcohol.
Of course that’s the facts, after all, people drink to lose their senses, not to get sharper. And lost senses means that your judgment on the roads is simply not functioning.
We need all our senses with use when we go out there, and that can never happen when alcohol is in the picture.
