One of the organisers, Moulana Sameeg Norodien, says the main objective of the mass iftaar is to reintegrate faith and God consciousness.
“We are in the month of Ramadaan. This mass boeka is to bring about positive change so that each and every person can come close to the Almighty, to deepen the faith within the community. This boeka is open to everyone,” Norodien said.

“Events like these make people realise they can take ownership and reach out to all. Manenberg can overcome gangs through spiritual and religious unity,” said Zama.
“We have to thank people like Moulana Sameeg who spearhead these prayer evenings.
“Since the start of their programme in July, murder rates have dropped, gang activity has subsided. This is working.”
