Two massive FA Cup semifinals to look forward to and as it normally is with Monday night football, I can only predict last night’s result for this page!
So here we go, it wasn’t another emotional return to Stamford Bridge for Jose.
Too much at stake, too much time elapsed, it’s now just a case of us and them.
United had a couple of decent spells, but Chelsea were generally in control, winning the game by a single goal.
By the time you’re reading this, I’ll either be hungover or pissed off.
Either way, its back to league business on Saturday and a tough game I’m a bit worried about as the league leaders travel to Stoke.
On Sunday Liverpool are at Eastlands and another massive one for Kloppy as Liverpool try and resurrect the kind of form that had them looking like genuine contenders until the turn of the year.
Now the Reds are only contending for that all-important top-four finish.
To be honest, they looked very average against Burnley on Sunday and I’ll be surprised if they make a Champions League spot.
All the talk is about an Anfield clear-out in the off-season as it appears that the current players just ain’t up for the job.
The German’s style of football – so apparent at Borussia – was a squad of players that performed like bionic men, much as Liverpool did in the opening few months but that’s all dropped away.
What Klopp probably hadn’t factored in was the intensity and fitness levels simply needed to compete in the league.
I do like him, though, I admire his honesty and passion but, as with all the top-end sides, he’s gonna have to spend to create the kind of squad strong enough to adhere to his demands.
Anyway, back to the FA Cup and it was all too easy for Manchester City and Arsenal.
I was looking forward to the Tottenham/Millwall game, but that was all over pretty much just after it started.
I think there was a lot more excitement on the streets around White Hart Lane before and after the 6-0 hiding.
There were rival fans pelting each other with bricks and bottles as a massive police operation managed to keep North London from descending into total anarchy.
It was heartening as always to see that people still care about football.
Not condoning it, but the passion that’s been ripped out of the game is still there.
Unfortunately, the real dyed-in-the-wool fan pride only really manifests itself when two old-school rivals go face-to-face.
Sad to see that there were allegations of racist chants, in particular aimed at Spurs frontman Heung-Min Son.
English football banter is amazing.
It’s smart, cutting and funny, no need for that.
I quite liked one headline on Sunday night following his hattrick, “A Son Day Roast”. Sorry Millwall.
