The 58-year-old man who allegedly lured six girls to his home where he showered them with gifts and money and raped them is now facing a total of 16 charges.
Ten more charges have been added to the rap sheet of Gordon Lewis at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court.
The Grassy Park resident initially faced six charges for his six victims, aged eight to 14 years old.
On Tuesday, the additional 10 charges for rape and sexual assault were added, all involving one girl.
The matter was postponed to 13 November.
Police say detectives are working around the clock to gather more evidence against the suspect and a second arrest is imminent.
Lewis, who is divorced and has no children, was arrested in September by detectives from Manenberg Police Station.
He worked for the Milnerton Refinery and used to work in Dubai on oil rigs before returning to South Africa.
His alleged modus operandi was to gain the trust of vulnerable children in Manenberg while dating a woman in the same community.
He would also allegedly allow children to drive in his car and invite them to his home in Grassy Park for the weekend or school holidays.
This is where cops believe the alleged rapes took place and where the children would apparently be showered with gifts like cellphones and receive between R50 and R100 cash.
It’s alleged Lewis has more victims from all over the Cape Flats but cops have yet to make a breakthrough.
A relative of one his alleged victims previously told the Daily Voice they were shocked by Lewis’ arrest, saying he was a trusted friend who often helped the family and the community.
She said they were aware Lewis entertained the laaities at his house but says no one knew what happened there.
