Delft residents have torn down the bush where the body of Zeenith Daniels, 20, was found.
Zeenith, the daughter of a community worker, was laid to rest this week after her body was found by a school child on a vuil veldjie along Delft Main Road in Leiden.
She had been dressed in a grey hoodie and was half-naked with a stab wound to the chest.
Her pants had been removed and it is believed she was raped.
On Thursday, residents gathered at Zeenith’s home and marched to the field where they lit candles, sang and tore down the trees.

Her mother, Zanap, and brother, Mogamat Zain, were distraught and cried throughout the march.
Family spokesperson, Wasiela Ely, says the family is struggling to deal with her death.

“Her mother is very sick and her brother cries all the time. We are all struggling to deal with it and this field is a big problem. For years many community workers tried to get something done and her mother was one of the main people who spoke out about what happens here and now her child was found here.”
Blue Downs Cluster Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, Reginald Maart, says they have called a meeting with local councillors.
“(The field) is a breeding ground for gangs and drugs and makes the community feel unsafe. So we will approach them and see what can be done.”
