An alleged house robber, who was on the Kraaifontein SAPS’ most wanted list, was found dead under a light pole on Monday evening.
The alleged skelm, identified only as Duiwel, was shot multiple times in Scottsville.
A police source says Duiwel was known for breaking in and robbing people along the fly-over bridge above the N1 Highway.
Duiwel was found riddled with bullets on the corners of Milton Road and Graaf Street and was still wearing his black gloves.
According to sources on the scene, Duiwel was not seen in the area for three weeks until the time he was shot.
A homeowner, who asked not to be named, says he was praying when he heard multiple gunshots ringing out.
“I was busy praying when I heard the shots outside our house in Milton Road. It was about 10:10pm. I was shocked and fell flat on the ground and crept behind a wall when the shots sounded even closer,” the man says.
A loud bang gave him an even bigger skrik.
“There was a bang and I heard the shattering of glass, it was a bullet that pierced the children’s bedroom window,” he explains.
“After things went quiet, I got up and that’s when my family and I saw this unknown man lying under the light pole. This unknown man gave one last moan and we heard him take his last breath before he died.”
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut, says: “The circumstances surrounding the death of an unknown male in his twenties are being investigated after he was shot and killed in Milton Street, Scottsville, by an unknown suspect who is yet to be arrested.”
