KwaZulu-Natal is earning a reputation as the racism capital of South Africa. In the third incident involving people from the province this year, a guest house in Sodwana Bay has come under fire for not serving “black people”.
The unapologetic racist says “blacks and government workers” are not allowed to stay at his establishment because “it’s God’s law” to segregate people by race.
Sizakele Msimango who tried to make a booking at the guesthouse, was told in an email: “Hi we do not accommodate black people or government employees any longer.”
A screen grab of the email shows that it is signed by Sodwana Bay Guest House owner Andre Slate and contains a quote from Proverbs 29:2: “When the righteous are in authority‚ the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule‚ the people mourn.”
Slate, 52, admitted to the incident and said the lodge came to the decision two months ago.
In his blog and book called Where to from Here, Cognition, the religious fanatic states that blacks need to be kept separate from other races.
Slate said he was aware that the Constitution did not allow discrimination based on race, but he followed only one law.
He told The Star: “Well, according to your Constitution, perhaps yes, but we work according to God’s law, and according to God’s law, we have to have some sort of segregation between the creation that he left here... the law you have in South Africa is Satan’s law.”
