Cops are hunting for five suspects who robbed the McDonald’s restaurant in Westgate Mall, Mitchells Plain.
This is the second robbery in just four months at the food outlet.
Cops say on Wednesday, the gunmen entered the business just after 8.15pm and ordered the staff to hand over cash.
Cellphones were also taken from customers.
Police spokesperson, Siyabulela Malo, says cops are hunting for the suspects who fled the scene on foot: “A case of business robbery has been opened for investigation after an incident that occurred (on Wednesday night) at a fast food outlet in Weltevreden Road at a shopping mall in Mitchells Plain at 8.15pm.
“According to reports police members attended the scene at the mentioned address and it has been reported that five unknown males entered the store and robbed and threatened the personnel with a firearm.
“The suspects fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephones worth a certain value.
“No shots were fired and no injuries were reported during this incident.
“Circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated with no arrests made so far.”
In May five robbers also fled with an undisclosed amount of money after entering the store just after 8pm.
Staff were left traumatised and customers had also been present at the time of the robbery.
