A hard-working chef, who drove taxi to earn extra money, has been stabbed to death during an attempted hijacking.
Robin Dreyden, 32, of Ravensmead, who was a qualified chef and an entrepreneur for a Food Truck business, had only been a Taxify driver for two days when he was killed.
A close family friend, who asked not to be identified, says Robin had completed his Taxify paperwork on Friday and started doing trips that same day.
The friend says on Saturday night, Robin had responded to a request from a customer who had attended a music concert in Durbanville.
Early on Sunday morning, Robin was found by a passer-by with multiple stab wounds in his brand-new grey Toyota Corolla Quest in Langa.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, says cops responded to a call about a stabbing in Langa.

“He was then taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, after which he was transferred to another hospital where he later died.
“Attempted carjacking and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) cases were registered initially. This will now be changed to murder.”
The friend says they suspect Robin had been threatened and forced to drive to Langa.
“We know that he would never do a trip to Langa and we think that he was forced to.
“They robbed him, left his car at the scene and stabbed him multiple times.”
Taxify said they would do all they can to help find Robin’s killer.
Gareth Taylor, Country Manager for Taxify South Africa says: “Taxify can confirm that the victim was a Taxify driver... and that he was operational during the night in question.
“Taxify will do everything possible to support any SAPS investigations into this incident, by sharing any information we possibly can that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator of this atrocious incident.”
