A cop who allegedly raped a Hanover Park woman in a holding cell has been fired after an internal SAPS disciplinary hearing found him guilty.
Constable Enkosi Matiwane, previously of Grassy Park Police Station, returned to the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Monday where he faces a rape charge for allegedly forcing himself on a 29-year-old woman in 2016.
The traumatised young mom says she was arrested for shoplifting in Ottery on January 2016 and was taken to Grassy Park Police Station.
While in custody, Matiwane allegedly handcuffed her, raped her and slapped her on the face with his penis before cleaning himself.
She appeared in court the next day and was released on R500 bail.
The woman reported the matter to police and a DNA sample was retrieved and after nearly TWO years of testing all the male officers working at the station, cops finally found Matiwane was responsible as his DNA matched the semen found on the woman.
The woman says he then visited her home on three occasions asking her to withdraw the case, but she refused.
The matter was referred to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid).
According to a police source an internal hearing was conducted in recent weeks: “They found him guilty last week because of the DNA evidence.”
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed Matiwane was dismissed on 23 April 2019.
He appeared in court on Monday. His case was postponed to 31 May for further investigations.
