Yet another intimidation case has been opened against Brackenfell residents, this time by Ivan Simmers, the first parent to complain about the alleged “whites only” matric ball involving Brackenfell High School.
Ivan says he noticed that he was being followed around by a private car and was alerted to a WhatsApp group where his photos had been shared.
“There is a car that has been following me and I am accused of bringing the EFF here in Brackenfell,” he says
The WhatsApp group called “Brackenfell school defence” has over 1500 members.
Ivan shared a screenshot of a chat about ammunition with Daily Voice, which reads “Met myne ook glo my skiet 20mm in ‘n boom in op so 20 meter genoeg vir close combat.”(sic)
Another chat says: “Plaas wites die swart gemors vrekmaak magtag.”(sic)
He believes the message was directed at him: “Someone told me to watch my back and alerted me to some of the discussions.
“I went to open a case on Friday, but the police said these were not direct threats to me.
“I posted on Facebook about it and I got a call from Bellville police who then took my case.”
Former pupil Siya Ntuntwana also opened a case of intimidation after he received threats following his public utterances about racism at Brackenfell High.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that a case was opened in Bellville.
“This office can confirm that the mentioned case number is an intimidation case opened at Bellville SAPS on 16 November for investigation.
“Case docket will be transferred to Brackenfell SAPS for further investigation.”
Meanwhile, the EFF is expected to apply to march in Brackenfell next week with its leader Julius Malema.
