A woman has been killed and three other people were wounded, including a five-year-old girl, during a shootout in Atlantis.
Police were called to the scene in Bunting Crescent in Robinvale Crescent on New Year’s Day where they found the body of the 27-year-old woman.
Two other men were wounded and a five-year-old girl was injured.
The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police spokesperson, Mihlali Majikela, says cops are investigating the motive and have yet to make an arrest.
“A case of murder and three cases of attempted murder have been opened for investigation following a shooting that took place on January 1 at about 8.20pm in Bunting Crescent, Robinvale Crescent, Atlantis,” says Majikela.
“According to reports, police members responded to a shooting at the mentioned address.
“One person, a 27-year-old female, was shot and fatally wounded.
“The other three victims, two males and a five-year-old girl, sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
Ward councillor, Barbara Rass, says they are shocked by the incident and called on police for a speedy investigation and arrest: “We feel sad about this incident because it is one of our women who have lost their lives.”
