The body of the baby boy was found by school children on Monday, shortly after 2pm, in Sonnebloem Road.
Police confirmed the case, but said no arrests had been made.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine cause of death. There are no arrests as yet,” said police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk.
Now, Pastor Adam Alexander of the Apostolic Outreach Ministry, says the community needs to come forward.

“I drove past the scene and the children kept going to the drain. It was a light of complexion baby boy and he wasn’t even covered or anything. He was just lying there naked. Dit is mos nie menslik om so *n ding te doen nie. Someone in the community will know of a woman who was pregnant and is now not anymore and they must speak up,” he says.
He says to prevent an incident like this again, the church is offering help for mothers who may not want their children.
“We have social workers who can provide help and support. If there are women who feel they don’t want their children we ask that they come and speak to us and we will help them with getting the child adopted once born.”
