Controversial businessman Nafiz Modack has laid charges against the police, who he accuses of killing his dog.
The German Shepherd, named Hugo, was staying with Modack’s business associate, Renier van der Vyfer, when cops swooped on his Parow home at about 4am on
Saturday.
Renier says the Anti-Gang Unit was looking for someone he doesn’t know.
CHARGE: Nafiz Modack
“They came here a week prior looking for someone and I told them I do not know the person,” he says. “I’ve been in Cape Town for about a month.
“They came again during the
morning hours. I was in the bathroom at the time and someone in the house told me police are demanding to come in.”
Renier said he told cops to produce a warrant but they went ahead and stormed the property.
“They went about searching the home. As they were leaving, after finding nothing, a cop told me: ‘yeah, we even f***ed the dog up.’
“I was then told the dog, a beautiful four-month-old German Shepherd was hit with the back of their R5 rifle.
“I went to the dog and there was a bump on his head. Later that day, the dog died.
“I am bef*k because that poor dog did not do anything to them. He was trained and disciplined.”

Speaking to Daily Voice, Modack confirmed it was his dog and that he has laid charges.
“Parow SAPS are busy with the case. Those cops who are responsible should be brought too book.
“They act worse than apartheid police. Every day you see in the paper people getting assaulted by these Anti-Gang Unit cops and IPID don’t do much about it,” he says.
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA spokesperson Belinda Abrahams says: “We are extremely disheartened by this alleged incident. Cruelty to animals is always unacceptable but even more so when it is at the hands of those who serve to enforce the law.
Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed the case is under investigation.
