The case of Jeremy Sias, who has been charged with the murder of show jumper Meghan Cremer, has been transfered to the Western Cape High Court for trial.
The matter was transferred after Sias received his indictment, which is his list of charges and a summary of the state’s case.
Sias is facing charges of murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and defeating the ends of justice.
A trial date has yet to be set.
The cases of his co-accused, Shiraaz Jaftha and Charles Daniels, were moved to the Athlone Regional Court.
The duo are scheduled to appear on 29 June.
Their case was separated from Sias’ after the state failed to link them to Meghan’s murder “based on objective evidence”.
The duo will now face only a charge of the theft of a motor vehicle.
GONE: Meghan Cremer
Previously the court heard that Sias has a pending case of theft of a motor vehicle, and was previously convicted for assault.
Daniels has a pending theft case and a previous conviction for drugs, while Jaftha has a previous conviction of drugs and a pending case of murder.
Meghan’s body was found on 8 August 2019 on a sand mine on a farm in Philippi after an alleged confession by Sias.
She had been strangled to death.
Her white Toyota Auris was allegedly found in the trios’ possession.
