A Mandalay man is kwaad at a Ford dealership in Kuils River after his car has been standing in their workshop since January.
Nyameko Lwana said he bought his 2019 Ford Ranger in August at Halfway Ford in Kuils River, but after three days he started experiencing issues with the car.
“While driving the car it loses power which makes it stop and a service/maintenance sign comes on the dashboard,” he explains.
“I called the dealership and the car had to go back.
“They sorted the problem out, but in October it happened again.
“The first time they said they cleaned the fuel tank and the second time they cleaned the fuel injectors so I thought it would be sorted, but in December it happened again while we were driving to the Eastern Cape.”
Nyameko said when they returned from holiday, they again booked the bakkie in for repairs on 15 January and it has not returned home since.
“On 19 March, they said I can come fetch the car and that the issue was sorted, but while driving it back home it happened again and I took it back to them.
“The car is still there, they first said there is a blockage on the fuel line, but now they say they must replace the computer system. But we have not heard from them for over a month now.”
The Mandalay resident said he is upset over the way the dealership has treated him and wants reimbursement of the R480 000 value he has paid for the bakkie.
“Just this year alone I have been paying R7 907 a month for a car I have not driven and only had properly for a few days.
“With insurance I am paying over R9 000. I want Ford to reimburse me for this car so that I can go and get another one, but not from them.”
Nyameko said he has contacted the vehicle ombudsman.
When the Daily Voice contacted Ford, they failed to comment despite an email being sent on Monday and multiple calls.
