A policeman and his teacher wife say they have also fallen victim to bogus photographer Tersia Arendse and will lay charges against her in the Small Claims Court.
The couple, both 27 years old and from Kuils River, say their big day was on 1 April, and like at least 35 other couples who contacted the Daily Voice, they spotted the advert for Eagles Production Photography on Gumtree and made contact with Arendse.
The cop says they went to meet Arendse at her home in Solo Street in Retreat, where she showed them her packages.
“We decided to go with the bronze package of R3 200,” he explains.
Their package included an A4 24-page photo book, eight hours of wedding coverage, 100 jumbo photos, two A4 photos, three A5 photos, a 90-day online gallery, 200 high-resolution images on a DVD and R300 fuel cost of R8 per kilometre.
“She was two hours late at our reception at Groenvlei Wine Farm. She came with excuses that she had no money for petrol,” the angry cop says.
WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER: Tersia Arendse
“She told us we could expect our pictures by July 1.
“The time came and then she came with more excuses.”
He says they went back to her house several times, but she was never there.
She also did not respond to their phone calls, but sent a message on WhatsApp saying “the photos were on their way”.
“She then said yes she will be using a courier service to deliver our photos, but she could never provide a tracking number or anything.
“We’re so lucky we had a videographer at our wedding and we had to fork out an extra R1600 for extra wedding photos, aside from the R5 000 we paid for his services,” he says.
The cops says he wants Arendse to pay him back R6 500.
Arendse did not respond to calls or messages for comment.
