Sunbird Park residents were left in shock on Saturday when the bludgeoned body of a young dad was found dumped on a field.
Residents gathered at the scene in Sunbird Drive amid rumours that Khyle Walter van Noie, 28, had been killed by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.
Residents, who asked not to be named, said the ex had recently been released from prison to find his girlfriend in a new relationship.
Khyle’s heartbroken aunt Amelia Carelse, 50, says they have many unanswered questions.
“Residents went to a relative’s house to say Khyle’s body was lying there on the field just after 7am,” she tells the Daily Voice.
“We immediately rushed to the field and when I got there, the police were already on the scene.
“He was lying on his back covered with grass and a blue council bag on his chest.
“The right side of his face was exposed and his right hand was sticking out.
“Only until the forensic team got there could we be sure (it was him).”
Amelia explains the family was not acquainted with Khyle’s new girlfriend as they had only been together for about a month.
“We don’t know the girlfriend and she wasn’t on the scene, but we went to her house,” she says.
“She did not give us an explanation, but asked if we wanted his stuff.
“She was later taken away by the police for questioning.
“Khyle had told a relative that he was in an argument with this girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend a few weeks ago and he threatened to kill him.”
Saps’ FC van Wyk confirms that “the deceased was found covered in grass with visible head injuries”.
“The suspects are unknown and are yet to be arrested, and we appeal to the public to come forward with information that can assist us with our investigation,” he says.
The Daily Voice visited the girlfriend’s home on Sunday, but nobody was present.
Amelia says Khyle’s nine-year-old daughter is devastated: “We are torn apart. He didn’t deserve to die like this. He had a big heart and loved smiling. ”
