A 35-year-old Kraaifontein man has been stabbed to death and robbed of his cellphone while heading out to find a job.
The man from Bloekombos and two relatives had been walking down Denne Street, Belmont Park, on Tuesday just before 9am when they were confronted by three men.
The trio demanded the man’s cellphone and stabbed him while his relatives fled.
He died on the scene.
A resident who asked not to be identified says the area where the incident happened is a crime hot spot: “This is the most feared street in Belmont Park in Kraaifontein.
“We always warn people that they must walk via Denne Street to get to the train station.
“Here people are often robbed and that man was robbed by three gangsters.
“He was stabbed in the heart.
“The two relatives ran off to the police station to get police on the scene.”
Police spokesperson, Siyabulela Malo, says the man was declared dead at the scene: “According to reports from the members who attended the scene, they found a victim with several stab wounds and he was declared dead on the scene due to his injuries.
“It is alleged that three unknown men approached him, robbed of his cellphone and stabbed him.
“A case of murder has been opened for investigation, no arrests have been made so far.
