Cops are hunting for two suspects who robbed the Cell C shop in Westgate Mall this week.
The drama unfolded on Wednesday at the Mitchells Plain mall just after 5.30pm when the two men walked in with a firearm and demanded cellphones and other expensive gadgets from staff.
It’s understood the skelms also robbed customers inside the shop but police did not confirm this.
The men fled the scene in a white Toyota Hilux bakkie and had apparently left the store in a quiet and calm manner so as not to attract attention.
Police spokesperson, Siyabulela Malo, says no one was injured and that no shots were fired during the incident.
“A case of business robbery has been opened for investigation after an incident that occurred at a cellular telephone shop at Westgate Mall on Wednesday at 5.30pm,” he says.
“According to information, police members attended the scene at the mentioned address and it is alleged that two armed unknown man entered the shop and threatened the staff and customers with a firearm.
“Both suspects fled the scene with undisclosed cellular telephones and other cellular gadgets.
“No shots were fired and no injuries were reported during the incident.
“Circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated with no arrests made so far.
“Police detectives are following upon possible leads to bring perpetrators to book.”
In April, the Sportscene store at the mall, was robbed by five armed men.
The same store was robbed in December 2018.
