A Cape Flats pastor, who is believed to be a serial rapist, has been slapped with two more charges.
Keith Bird, of Lost City appeared at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he heard that additional charges of rape and robbery had been added to his case.
Police sources say a new victim has come forward after reading about Bird’s story in the Daily Voice.
Bird, who now faces a total of seven charges, is going ahead with his bail application.
The list includes two other counts of rape which took place in 2014 and 2016 and intimidation, extortion and murder.
It’s alleged Bird lured his victims with the promise of a job.
The holy man, who wore a silver chain and cross pendant on Friday, showed no emotion when State prosecutor Darren Johnson informed the court of the new charges.
The case was postponed to 1 December.
Bird is currently imprisoned at Pollsmoor and it is alleged that he murdered Aniesa Bardien, 37, who disappeared from her home in Bloubos Street, Eastridge, on 7 January 2013.
Three months later, her decomposed body was found in a shallow grave at Strandfontein Beach.
DNA tests confirmed she was the missing woman.
Joanie Fredericks, the chairperson of the Mitchells Plain Crisis Forum, said Bird’s dark secrets were coming out.
“He showed no emotion when they said he is facing a rape and robbery charge because he knew it was coming. It is evident that he is a complete control freak who preyed on women,” she explains.
The court has since ordered that Bird’s photograph may not be taken or published until an identity parade is complete.
