More Daily Voice readers have come forward to complain about a building contractor who allegedly conned a Bellville pensioner out of R21 000.
Last week, Kishor Harri, 64, said the contractor, Kurt Pieterse, agreed to pave his driveway and rebuild the fence and gates.
But Pieterse claimed his plasterer was stabbed and needed a few weeks to recover.
Now, a 38-year-old couple from Elzeth Road in Ottery says Pieterse did the same to them two years ago, and they are still recovering from losing the R20 000 they paid him for work he never completed.
The couple, who asked not to be named, say in February 2017, they had an architect draw up a plan for alterations to their fence, gates, driveway, garage and the kitchen.
EXPOSED: The Daily Voice exposed the alleged connman in an article written last week.
They say they contracted Pieterse, who assured them he would be able to do the job.
But they say after a week they smelt a rat, as the trenches were not dug properly, and although part of the fence was done, there were no gates.
The mother of two says Pieterse then disappeared.
“I tried to speak to him and he just never pitched to do the work. The money was gone and the yard looked a mess,” she says.
“My husband’s car was damaged and not to mention that we were unsafe for months as we tried to get someone else for the gates. It was a nightmare.”
She says they saved up the money for the building alterations for a whole year.
“We even did a camp-out outside the house he lived in here in Ottery, waiting for him to come out, but the neighbour came out to say he will only be home much later,” the mother says.
In June 2017, they went to see an attorney and a letter of demand was delivered to Pieterse.
The mother says they want their R20 000 back and will now also turn to the Small Claims Court like Harri.

“I am not interested in seeing him. I am not interested in excuses. We want this man taken to task for what he has done. He has no shame,” said the upset woman.
The Daily Voice contacted Pieterse, who confirmed he knows the couple, but claims he had used a subcontractor.
“I didn’t take any money from them, I hired a subcontractor to do the work for them,” he says.
“I was never part of the building and lost money on that business, too.”
He did not want to say how exactly he lost money on the contract.
But the homeowner says: “That is a lie. He was here. He oversaw the work for the month they were here catching on nonsense.
