The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating a shootout between skollies and cops in Bonteheuwel after a member of the Stupa Boys gang was
hospitalised.
According to a source, mense at the scene asked why the skollie, who brazenly opened fire on them, “wasn’t vrek” as police called for an ambulance.
“It was after 3pm on
Wednesday. Bishop Lavis SAPS and the Law Enforcement Neighbourhood Safety Teams (NST) received a tip-off about two Stupa Boys walking in the back streets with guns.
“They responded and after the skollies saw them, they shot two skote and SAPS fired back.
“That guy was hit in his arm and maag[stomach].”

The source says a second gunman escaped and ran towards Heideveld while his friend lay bleeding on a veldjie surrounded by officers.
“The cops called an
ambulance because he was just
lying there.
“When they stood there, the mense were sommer asking why he was not vrek, because these gangsters think nothing of cops, they will just shoot.
“He survived and they took him to the hospital, but his friend got away. ”
Law Enforcement
spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, confirms none of their officers were injured in the shooting.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, confirms that a suspect was
shot and wounded by police after he opened fire on officers and Ipid is investigating.
